Blogging Break

Hey!!! I don't know if you've noticed but I'm having a bit of a blooging break here!!! I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm tired and crabby and just in general overwhelmed, so all three of you who read this,excuse me for awhile!! I'll start blogging again on May 1.

The Ides of March (Latin: Idus Martias) is the name of the date 15 March in the Roman calendar. The term ides was used for the 15th day of the months of March, May, July, and October, and the 13th day of the other eight months.^[1] In Roman times, the Ides of March was a festive day dedicated to the god Mars and a military parade was usually held.In modern times, the term Ides of March  is best known as the date that Julius Caesar was assassinated, in 44 BC, the story of which was famously dramatised in William Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar.^[2]   ==Etymology==The term idūs (ides) is thought to have originally been the day of the full moon. The Romans considered this an auspicious day in their calendar. The word ides comes from Latin,  meaning "half division" (of a month). Caesar was assassinated on the Ides of March, 44 BC, after declaring himself dictator of Rome, for life. According to a near-contemporary biographer, Caesar summoned the Senate to meet in the Theatre of Pompey on the Ides of March. A certain soothsayer warned Caesar to be on his guard against a great peril on the day of the month of March which the Romans call the Ides; and when the day had come and Caesar was on his way to the senate-house, he greeted the seer with a jest and said: "The Ides of March has come," and the seer said to him softly: "Aye, Caesar, but not gone."^[4]As the Senate convened, Caesar was attacked and stabbed to death by a group of senators who called themselves the Liberatores ("Liberators"); they justified their action on the grounds that they committed tyrannicide and were preserving the Republic from Caesar's alleged monarchical ambitions.

Tristyn, little boy lost and alone most of the time was thrilled to have company this weekend. Janice’s friend brought her little boy Jude over to play. They are both car boys so it was Grand Prix mayhem in here!!!!

Tristyn was a really good boy this past weekend. Tammy promised him WWE, we don't have WWE here just local little wrestling. He LOVED it!!!

Art Friday-Edgar Degas

A favorite of mine. Mostly he intrigued me as he was often referred to as “the Invisible Man”. In an era rife with foppish painters he was slow and steady and a gentleman. And his quiet art shows that. I, like everyone else love the Ballerinas. What’s not to love…

But everyone forgets his beautiful nudes. Paintings he described as”painfully uncomfortable” to paint. I think these are his sneaky bests!

The colors are just perfect!! And here are his even lesser known landscapes. He said in a letter to his mother that” I am quite unsure why ANYONE would paint landscapes. There is no real life or movement in them”  He was wrong…

If just one day, I could paint like this, I might give everything else away!

He’s always been a fav, so you can guess that during a spur of the moment trip to New Orleans, when Andy and I got stuck staying in his childhood home, I was thrilled. It was a hideous mess, they were remodeling it and we literally had to move debris out of our room, but I loved it!!! And I stole tons of crystals from his chandelier. they were going to THROW THEM AWAY!!!!! Retards. I have them in my studio to help keep me motivated!

We stayed right on the top floor in the front rooms. The Windows are so tall you can open them and walk out on the balcony. ( where I met a vampire<G>).

Our Little Valentine!!!

Valentines day LOVE!!!

Yesterday we were invited to a Grandparents Valentines Day Program at Tristyns School. And it was adorable! Only Kindergarteners and their parents and grandparents. It was'nt crowded and much more enjoyable than the Christmas program! The kids sang 5 songs and had some small speaking parts, the whole thing took 30 minutes. Then they took us to the cafeteria for breakfast(donut holes and drinks) It was great. The only sad note were the three little pockets of kids with no family present. That made me really sad! Here's the pics.

Friday Art- Graffiti

This is a no link post. I just love this art form and wanted to share it! My question to you is: Do you love or hate it???

 

We live in a town that goes apeshit over it. Every little mark is hunted down and eradicated. I think why??? I mean walls are really PLAIN and UGLY!!!  Dress them up. I love it. I love the days Tristyn and I sit and watch the trains and share the art!   If your lucky enough to have it where you live, i HOPE you enjoy it!
